Chapter 1

Once Upon a Time

In a big little town called Jacksonville, Florida, a group of tax professionals grew increasingly frustrated with the bad apples preying on everyday people who were desperately searching for tax relief. They knew there had to be a better way. Together, with the help of an ex-IRS agent, they formed Tax Defense Network.

Lynch, Kentucky – Saved From The IRS!

The busy little tax professionals worked hard to give hope to many people across the land. Word of their outstanding capabilities spread quickly. One day in 2009, the residents of Lynch, Kentucky, found themselves in a deep hole ($250,000) with the IRS. With time running out, they asked Tax Defense Network (TDN) to save their little town. It was a tall order, but TDN agreed to take on their case. After months of negotiations and hard work, the citizens of Lynch could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

BBB Torch Award for Ethics

With so many people (and cities!) needing assistance, TDN expanded its workforce and quickly became one of the fastest-growing private companies in Jacksonville, Florida. Although they grew in size, they never lost sight of what was important – the people they served.

In 2014, TDN received the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics. This distinguished achievement recognizes companies that exemplify high principles and integrity, validating the company’s mission to provide exceptional service, transparency, and value.

New Digs & Another Award

By 2015, TDN had grown to more than 250 employees and was in desperate need of a bigger office space. They relocated to a beautiful complex on Jacksonville’s Southside, occupying the top two floors of the main building. Along with the new digs, TDN launched its Diamond Initiative to strengthen all aspects of client interactions. This included beefing up their infrastructure and cybersecurity measures to ensure all client data was fully protected.

They were also awarded another BBB Torch Award for Ethics (2016).

Time to Celebrate – 10 Years!!

In the spring of 2017, Tax Defense Network celebrated 10 years of service to taxpayers in need. During that time, thousands of people had their tax problems solved. TDN also welcomed a brand-new CEO – Tom Baumlin!

Although our first chapter was filled with celebrations and milestones, we all looked to the future with open hearts and excitement. We knew so many people still needed our help, and we had a lot more to give!

Chapter 2

The Dawn of MoneySolver

As time went on, we realized that many of our tax clients were having other money troubles, too. Some were struggling with student loan debt, while others were barely making ends meet due to other financial issues. We knew that just fixing their tax issues was not enough; we had to do more. Welcome to the dawn of MoneySolver!

In early 2018, we expanded as MoneySolver to give our clients a more holistic approach to solving their money problems.

Student Loan Scholarships & More!

To celebrate our new brand expansion, we decided to give away a bunch of free money. We launched 14 new scholarship programs in 2018. Twelve (12) of our scholarship programs awarded $1,000 to incoming and current college students. Our Student Loan Relief and Student Loan Forgiveness scholarships (first of their kind!) were each worth $2,500, with those funds going directly to the winner’s student loan bill. In total, we gave away $25,000 in scholarships between 2018 and 2019.

#PayMyTaxes

In addition to our scholarship programs, we created a tax contest. #PayMyTaxes launched in 2019, promising to pay off the winner’s tax bill (up to $50,000) – a truly life-altering event. Our winner, Toni D., had her entire tax bill of $11,910 wiped clean!

Supporting Our Troops During The Shutdown

As the government shutdown continued into January 2019, our area military families were struggling without paychecks. We knew we had to do something to help. Our executive officers and marketing team put together a free luncheon, featuring smoothies from Smoothie King and delicious barbecue from Bono’s. We also volunteered our time to help pass out supplies (food, diapers, toiletries) to those in need. MoneySolver also offered free tax services to all military branches in Northeast Florida. It was so fulfilling to give back to those who serve our country.

#PayMyStudentLoans

On the heels of our tax contest was our #PayMyStudentLoans contest. Launched in 2019, we gave one lucky winner (Madelyne Moloney) $50,000 to pay off their student loan debt. The following year (2020), we cut a check for $10,000 to help another borrower (Doug Brooks) pay down their debt.

Best Places to Work

In 2021, we received the “Best Places to Work” award from the Jacksonville Business Journal. It’s not our first time receiving a recognition like this; we were recognized in 2017 by Zippia and again in 2020 by Glassdoor. This one, however, holds a special place in our hearts. As you may remember, COVID hit in early 2020. This deadly illness killed over one million people in the United States and destroyed thousands of businesses. Throughout the pandemic, we worked hard to remain open and provide a safe environment for our employees. We also did our best to minimize layoffs and help those who were let go. Winning the Best Places to Work award during this time was humbling, and we are forever grateful for the wonderful employees who helped us keep the doors open during these dark days.

CreditSolver Joins The Mix

To continue MoneySolver’s mission of helping people deal with financial obstacles, we added our credit coaching services to the mix in 2022. This new branch, known as CreditSolver, not only helps people correct errors on their credit histories but also gives them tools to help increase their scores. We also partnered with several lenders to help people consolidate their credit card debt or negotiate better terms.

Chapter 3

Reaching New Heights

Over time, we realized that financial help isn’t just about solving someone’s tax problem or getting them out of credit card debt – it’s about building sound financial futures. So, we shifted again.

We re-envisioned how we support people, focusing less on one-time solutions and more on lifelong financial empowerment.

Today, MoneySolver continues to reach new heights as we help people gain confidence, clarity, and control over their money.
